Well, my little cupcake, so to traveling solo? Have you ever thought about traveling alone at least once in your life? Have you been tempted to just quit and pack your bags? Do you often think about throwing caution to the wind and squash that comfort zone once and for all?
As I reflect on 17 years of non stop solo traveling, and the achievement, in and of itself, I’ve had the most profoundly positive of changes. I’ve excelled, yet there were no maps, I’ve flown, yet it wasn’t in miles, I’ve conquered but there were no battles.
As in the words of Helen Keller, ‘life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all’. Just sit with those words, (as I still do today) and look them in the face. Do you squeeze the best out of each day and revel in the FUN???
If so, CONGRATS! You are winning!
Taking Back Control
You see, you are either driving your own car pointing in the direction of wanted, or being driven by someone else and what they want. True happiness (the intersection of flow, connection and playfulness), comes when you take back the steering wheel, pause, regroup and set off again on your own custom made trail.
It was never your job to work hard to retirement. It was never your job to conform to cookie cutter mentality. And, it was certainly never your job to simply settle. It is, however your job to THRIVE along life’s path from one happy stepping stone to the next.
And, my little cupcake, to live an extraordinary life, you have to think, act and behave as if it has already manifested. Not only will you begin to feel fabulous, your entire outer world will begin to reflect your inside one.
And finally…
‘Travel Solo, Travel Rich’
He who basks in adventure.
Will always find his soul,
Never does he stop his dance,
In all that makes him whole.
He who basks in joy,
Will always find his trail,
Skipping happily along the path,
In all he cannot fail.
He who basks in light,
Will never fear his dark,
Let him feel his freedom,
And he will leave his mark.
He who basks in new,
Will always find his gold,
Destiny gentle with his soul,
A dance that must unfold.
He who basks in knowing,
Will always find his way,
A smile cast to the sky and beyond,
For he has won the day.
By me!
CONCLUSION
There we have it, my little pickle! To travel solo is to travel rich. Rich in wow, rich in experiences, rich in soul, rich in freedom and rich in YOU! Go forth and multiply, and don’t you stop until you’ve done it. And who knows, you may well clock up 17 years on the road like I have. All I can say is good luck!
