Fun facts about Christian Dior? Yes, my little millefeuille! Have you ever found yourself dreaming a Pretty Woman moment with a petite entourage of Dior shopping bags by your side? Have you ever imagined every season’s hot palette of lip gloss in your paws with a whole closet back home in homage to such beautyliciousness? Or do you ever go nuts at a makeup counter having spent the entire week’s food budget on a promising new eye cream? Mon dieu, you may shout as clever sales lady got you, yet again, with an Oscar worthy performance on a gorgy, new freebie!
Ah the bliss of luxury! The look, the feel, the touch of some of the finest products from the legends of the beauty space. And classics which the rest of the beauty brands can only but dream about! There is one thing I appreciate, (along with Madame Coco), and that is Dior!
Having spent 17 years solo traveling the 4 corners of the globe, and being disciplined in the weight I carry, I spend money mostly on experiences. With that being said, how can a girl resist such luxury! Well, whilst I can’t promise a Pretty Woman big hat moment or a Mr Gere thrown in for good measure, what I can do is a little homage to CD with top 5 fun facts that will have you ‘oh la la’ing down Rodeo Drive as happy as a squirrel in a peanut factory.
Firstly, whatever your taste in attire, there’s no doubt when it comes to trail blazing legends, Dior and Chanel top the list of icons. The Superbowl of fashion. The 5 Star Michelin of ‘la mode’. The Mona Lisa of sophistication.
Secondly, being a huge fan of anything Dior, I do admittedly spoiled myself from time to time with the odd CC and CD splurges. There is nothing quite like a Chanel Pillar Box Red lipstick to feel a million UDS. Or Dior Addict Lip Gloss. An experience that no drugstore (even if I LOVE Elf!) can emulate.
Oh Dior, how you tease me so!
What is it about Dior that seems to pull a global audience and will be standing long after those lesser mortals have uttered au revoir and gone back to the drawing board.
Lets take a look and find out a few facts quicker than you can say fromage…
TOP 5 FUN FACTS ABOUT CHRISTIAN DIOR
- Firstly, before becoming a fashion legend, Dior owned a small art gallery that his father bought him on the condition the family’s name didn’t appear above the door. Oh la la, indeed!
- After the gallery was closed down, Dior sold fashion sketches outside his house for about 10 cents to make money.
- Miss Dior was named after Christian’s sister Catherine who he loved very much.
- Yves Saint Laurent worked for Dior as his assistant at the age of 19.
- Dior was an unashamed mother’s boy. (as well are Brad Pitt and George Clooney!)
Conclusion
In conclusion, the next time you step into a luxury store, or see those CD initials in some glossy magazine, wander a virtual Champs Elysees in homage to the man who single handedly revived the fashion industry. This trail blazing gentleman knew exactly what a woman wanted. Merci Dior!
