Imagine….sipping a cappuccino in the gentle haze of summer sunshine while partaking in people watching from a chic Italian Piazza..partaking in people watching from a chic Italian Piazza…imagine the gentle nod of approval you feel as fashionista locals strutt their stuff before your curious eyes…imagine the joy of being lazy – ‘la dolce far niente’ (the sweetnesss of doing nothing)…the feeling of being stuck in time as you ponder how gladiators once triumphed…Rome wasn’t built in a day…but then again, who can blame them…they had pizza! ‘a tavola nessun diventa’ – ‘at the table no one grows old’…

Oh dear Rome,

What can I say,

A city of beauty,

You are today.

The sights, the sounds,

Of old and new,

You take my breath,

And fill me too.

Gladiators once stood,

Heads held high,

And brave they were,

This history gone by.

You shine, you bask,

A city of light,

A place that captures,

All wanderers tonight.

Arrivederci Rome,

Now time to move on,

Grazie old friend,

You amazed all along.
